May 4, 2024
Border Roads Organisation takes in after snowfall hits northern India’s Jammu and Kashmir.
The incident took place in Bandipora-Gurez Road, Bandipora district on May 4.
Visuals showed the entire road covered with snow. Officials were seen removing snow from the road by excavator.
The Bandipora-Gurez road, stretching 84 kilometers in North Kashmir’s Bandipora district, was shut down to traffic on Saturday due to recent snowfall at Razdan Pass. This closure is a preventive step in anticipation of further rain and snowfall.
The Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Gurez, in a statement today, announced the suspension of movement on the Gurez-Bandipora road until further notice, citing the weather forecast. Last week, the road had to be closed multiple times due to adverse weather conditions. The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) is currently engaged in snow clearance efforts to expedite the reopening of the road.
