Sky bomb cracker explosion leaves 11 women injured during immersion ceremony in western India
In a tragic incident during a Ganesha immersion procession in western India’s Maharashtra, 11 women were injured when a sky bomb exploded below them.
The incident took place at Sri Krishna Temple on Itwari Road, Nagpur district, on September 19.
Visuals showed people bursting firecrackers amid drumbeats during the procession. One of the sky bombs failed to launch into the sky and exploded on an under-construction building, showering firecrackers onto the crowd below, causing panic and confusion.
According to reports, the Ganpati immersion procession organized by Shiv Sneh Mandal was underway when the explosion occurred. The fireworks that misfired landed on bystanders, severely injuring at least 11 women. The victims were rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment. Seven women were admitted to the Government Medical Hospital in Nagpur, while the remaining four received care at Umred Government Hospital.
