The scene is stark and disturbing: the woman is sprawled on the ground, appearing helpless and disoriented, while the attacker is engaging in an explicit and aggressive act beside her.
In a distressing event that has sent shockwaves through Madhya Pradesh, a 45-year-old woman was raped on a footpath near a petrol pump in Ujjain’s Koyla Faatak area. The perpetrator, Lokesh, lured the woman, who is a beggar, with alcohol before assaulting her. The brutal incident occurred in broad daylight, and while it was being carried out, passersby recorded the attack on their phones rather than offering assistance.
The video, which has since gone viral on social media, shows the woman lying on the street while Lokesh assaults her. The local police, upon discovering the video, acted swiftly to apprehend the attacker. Lokesh has been arrested and is now in custody.
The incident has drawn severe criticism from Congress, with state president Jitu Patwari condemning the BJP-led government in Madhya Pradesh for failing to maintain law and order. The police are also investigating the individuals who filmed the incident, with plans for stringent actions against them as well.
The victim, who had been living on the streets for several years, was reportedly manipulated and drugged by the accused before the assault took place. This incident has raised serious concerns about public safety and the responsiveness of law enforcement in the region.
