Shocking! Deadly terrorist attack hits Pakistan’s army cantonment
The incident took place in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province of Bannu district on July 15.
Visuals showed the chilling sight of black smoke swirling into the sky from the security garrison, evoking a sense of fear and distress, illustrating the seriousness of the incident in the region.
According to reports, policeman Tahir Khan stated that the security forces quickly responded to the “coordinated attack” and foiled an attempt by the insurgents to enter the sprawling military facility which mainly houses offices of the military and homes of security forces. He also said army helicopters and ground forces were still reaching the area to track more militants.
Reportedly, 8-10 militants had barged into the military base. The incident began with an early-morning blast at the barricaded garrison, and firing is said to be continuing with gunmen inside the facility. Allegedly, a vehicle packed with explosives was used in the attack and suicide bombers breached the perimeter of Bannu Cantonment.
Reportedly, local residents stated that homes far from the blast were shaken and windows shattered. Pakistani security forces have reported conducting targeted operations against militants in several parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
