Severe waterlogging in northern India causes couple to fall into drain

The incident took place in Dehradun city and the video went viral on July 9.
Visuals showed amid severe waterlogging, a couple’s two-wheeler got stuck in an overflowing drain. Water surged around them as nearby residents, braving the deluge, rushed to their aid. In a dramatic rescue, they lifted the two-wheeler out of the swirling waters, pulling the soaked and panicked couple to safety.
According to reports, despite significant investments in the Smart City project, Dehradun’s drainage system was overwhelmed by the rainfall, leading to extensive flooding. Newly constructed electric ducts also filled with water, highlighting major flaws in the city’s urban infrastructure.
