Severe flooding blocks major route, cripples traffic in western India
In a severe weather incident in western India’s Maharashtra, torrential rainfall led to the closure of the Ramwadi subway in Pune, causing significant traffic disruptions.
The incident took place at the Ramwadi subway in Pune city on August 18.
Visuals showed vehicles partially submerged in the waterlogged area beneath the subway. Locals and passersby struggled to navigate the flooded streets, as water reached alarming levels.
According to reports, the Ramwadi subway, connecting Kalyani Nagar to the airport, was shut down due to flooding, resulting in a complete traffic blockade on the route. This severe waterlogging came just two weeks after major flooding had already crippled the city. The waterlogged streets were also plagued by traffic snarls, with several vehicles breaking down. People were seen abandoning their vehicles and wading through knee-deep water to cross the streets.
