Several tents turn into balls of fire at Mahakumbh, no casualties reported

Fire broke out at Mahakumbh, a sacred pilgrimage, burning many tents to ashes in one of the 25 sectors and causing panic among the attendees.

This incident occurred at Mahakumbh Sector-22, in Prayagraj city, in northern India’s Uttar Pradesh on January 30.

Visuals show tents burning down to ashes, emitting dense smoke. A few bystanders are running toward the fire to watch, while others are walking away from the tents as at least ten tents continue to blaze. Later, the fire is seen being put out as some people clear the scene under the supervision of officials.

According to sources, more than a dozen tents were engulfed in flames. The fire brigade reached the spot promptly and began extinguishing the blaze. The attendees panicked as this incident occurred a day after a stampede broke out, which killed around 30 people. Fortunately, no casualties were reported due to the fire.
