SDRF team rescues four villagers trapped in monsoon floodwaters in northern India

In a heroic rescue operation, the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) successfully saved four villagers, including three women and one teenager, who were trapped in a fast-flowing seasonal stream in northern India’s Rajasthan.

The incident took place in  Khichan Kheda village, located in the Dhamotar police station area of Pratapgarh district on August 25.

Visuals showed the intensity of the rescue effort: SDRF team members can be seen using ropes and harnesses to secure the villagers, battling against the strong currents of the floodwaters. The situation was made even more perilous by the near-total darkness, with the team relying on torchlight to find their way and safely guide the villagers to dry land.

According to reports, amidst heavy monsoon rains that have lashed the region, the villagers found themselves stranded in the middle of the rapidly rising waters. The SDRF team, equipped with ropes, harnesses, and torches, bravely navigated the dangerous conditions with near-zero visibility to reach the trapped individuals.

Despite these challenges, the team’s determination and expertise ensured that all four individuals were brought to safety.

This rescue operation highlights the critical role of the SDRF during the monsoon season in India, where sudden floods and heavy rains often pose significant risks to rural communities.
