SDRF rescues youth swept away by flood water in dam in northern India

In a dramatic rescue operation in northern India’s Rajasthan SDRF team member Bharatlal risked his life to save a young man who was swept away by the Bhampura Dam’s floodwaters. His brave effort ensured the youth’s safe return to his family.

 

The incident took place at Bhampura Dam in Dicolia village in Tonk and the video went viral on August 5.

Visuals showed a dramatic scene at the Bhampura Dam, strong floodwaters surged through the area, creating a dangerous and chaotic environment. Amid the torrential flow, a man was struggling against the powerful currents, visibly submerged and in peril. SDRF team members, amidst a crowd of onlookers, swiftly responded with a rescue operation. Using a rope, they carefully maneuvered through the turbulent waters to reach the man. Despite the relentless rain and the dam’s flood-like conditions, their skillful efforts successfully pulled the man to safety, ensuring he was secure and unharmed. The scene was a mix of intense action and the collective relief of the crowd witnessing the heroic rescue.

 

According to reports 15 people have lost their lives so far in rain-related accidents in the state. Three workers died in Jodhpur’s Boranada due to the collapse of a factory wall, while three people died in Jaisalmer due to the collapse of a house roof. According to Bharatpur’s statement, two teenagers were swept away in the Gambhiri river, whose bodies have not been recovered yet. A young man died due to drowning in the Gotawar dam in Balesar, Jodhpur, while a woman died due to the collapse of a house in Dhinawas near Sojat in Pali. Similarly, two bike riders were swept away on a culvert near Sadari, among whom Hanuman Ram, a resident of Jodhpur, died. 25-year-old Ashok died due to being swept away in the strong current while crossing a culvert in Jaliya Pratham, Beawar. A young man died due to being swept away in the river in Baran and a woman died due to the collapse of a wall. Similarly, a young man was also swept away in Bhilwara’s Menal waterfall.
