School bus overturns in collision with speeding car: several injured in southern India

The incident took place in Hanamkonda in Warangal Urban district on June 27.
Visuals showed a school bus was attempting to make a cross the road when a speeding car collided with it with such force that the entire bus overturned. The crash caused immediate chaos and panic. In the midst of the confusion, two quick-thinking students jumped out of the bus through a window. They then broke the emergency exit, allowing the rest of the passengers to escape the overturned bus.
A crane arrived at the scene to remove the bus and car from the road, carefully lifting and moving them to the side. The once-busy road was lined with concerned onlookers, rescue personnel, and vehicles halted in response to the accident. The air was filled with the sounds of sirens and the voices of people coordinating the rescue operation.
According to reports the school bus carrying 30 students was struck by a speeding car while making a U-turn on the main road in the Hanmakonda-Kamalapur mandal center. The impact was so intense that the school bus overturned, causing panic among the students. The area was filled with the sounds of frightened students shouting and crying for help.
Passing motorists stopped their vehicles to assist in the rescue efforts. Displaying remarkable presence of mind, two students jumped out of the bus through the windows and broke the emergency exits, enabling the trapped students to escape. Fortunately, out of the 30 students on board, only three sustained injuries.
The collision also left three passengers in the car seriously injured. Upon receiving the distress call, police quickly arrived at the scene and commenced rescue operations. The injured were promptly transported to the nearest hospital for treatment.
The police have registered a case and initiated an investigation into the accident. Preliminary reports suggest that the car was overspeeding, a recurring issue that continues to endanger lives despite numerous warnings and regulations.
This incident underscores the critical need for stricter enforcement of traffic laws and heightened awareness about the dangers of reckless driving.
