Roads, houses left inundated after massive rainfall strikes southern India
Several roads and houses were left severely flooded after massive rainfall struck southern India’s Telangana.
This happened in the Dilsukhnagar area of Hyderabad on May 16.
Visuals showed heavy flooding of roads and houses, disrupting communications due to the rainfall. A man can be seen saving his bike from the flash flood.
According to the reports, an intense cloudburst of an hour’s duration left the city gasping for breath and brought chronic insufficiencies in public infrastructure the impact of rain, and the slab of a stormwater drain got washed. Two-wheelers parked by the road were seen floating away in the stormwater.
Several vehicles were stranded in the flood water across the city, while flood water entered the Balkampet underpass blocking the route entirely. Reports were received about cars getting stranded in the water in the underpass. The railway bridge at Malakpet too was reportedly besieged by water, resulting in heavy traffic jams on the Dilsukhnagar-Koti route. Heavy water logging was reported in many parts of the city.
