Road rage incident in southern India leaves five-year-old injured
A five-year-old boy sustained injuries following a road rage incident involving his family in southern India’s Karnataka. The boy was injured when two men attacked the family’s car, prompting police to arrest the main suspect and initiate a search for his accomplice.
The incident took place near Maaramma Temple in Choodasandra, Kasavanahalli, southeastern Bengaluru on October 30.
Visuals showed in a tense scene, a family is seated inside their car, parked near a busy area. Suddenly, two aggressive men approach from outside, demanding that the family roll down their windows. The family, feeling threatened, refuses to comply, their hearts racing with fear. After a moment of confrontation, the men, frustrated by the family’s refusal, strike the rear window with a rock. The sound of shattering glass echoes, causing panic among the family members. Inside the car, the two young children, a five-year-old boy and an eleven-year-old girl, are frightened and begin to scream, their voices filled with terror. The atmosphere is charged with anxiety, as bystanders nearby glance over, drawn by the commotion, but unsure whether to intervene.
According to reports, the family, returning home from last-minute Deepavali shopping, was targeted at around 9:30 PM. Anoop George, the father and a techie from Chikkanayakanahalli, reported that the assailants stopped their vehicle after overtaking and struck the rear window with a rock. “Both my children were in the back seat. My five-year-old son had to get three stitches on his forehead. He is fine now. There was a pool of blood on the seat. My daughter, 11, is traumatized from the incident, and so are we,” George recounted.
After the attack, George and his wife confronted the suspects, who fled the scene. George shared a video on social media showing the moment of the attack. He noted that the assailants had attempted to stop another car prior to targeting his family’s vehicle.
Following the incident, George took his son to Aarogya Hastha Hospital for treatment and subsequently reported the incident to the Parappana Agrahara Police. While the police arrested Krishna Moorthy, 24, the main suspect, he contradicted George’s account, claiming that the family’s car had damaged his bike, leading to the altercation.
Authorities are continuing their investigation and searching for the other suspect involved in the incident. The case has been registered under multiple sections, including voluntarily causing hurt and criminal intimidation.
