Residents save mentally challenged man from suicide attempt on 12th floor ledge in northern India

In a heart-stopping incident in northern India’s Uttar Pradesh two brave residents rescued a 21-year-old mentally challenged man from a suicide attempt on the 12th floor, pulling him back just as he prepared to jump.

The incident took place at Supertech Capetown a residential society located in Sector 78, Noida on October 21.

Visuals showed the man hanging from the ledge of the common space and trying to jump off it, amid loud appeals by residents to stay still. As he lowered himself and prepared to let go of his grip, two men rushed up the stairs and held him from behind.
The entire incident was captured on video by a concerned neighbor.

According to the police, the man had previously lived in the society around five to six months ago but had recently moved to Sector 41. “He is mentally challenged and stays at home,” an officer stated.
After undergoing the necessary legal formalities, the youth was handed over to his family.

This act of bravery by the two residents prevented what could have been a tragic outcome, and the quick response is being widely applauded.
