Rescue officials come to the aid of handicapped man trapped in waterlogged house in northern India
The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) officials came to the aid of a handicapped man and his family who were trapped in their water-logged house in northern India’s Uttarakhand.
This happened in Adarsh Colony area of Laksar in Haridwar district on the intervening night of July 13 and 14.
Visuals showed the whole house under knee-high water as the SDRF officials entered and saved the family. They first put on a life jacket on the handicapped person and an official carried him while the others were escorted out of the area. They then took him and the others on a raft before escorting them away into a safer place. According to a report, the SDRF team was already engaged in rescue and relief work in the area when they received information about this. They then took all the necessary equipment and rushed to the house to find the handicapped man on a bed. The other family members included an elderly man and three women all of whom were unable to go anywhere because of the rising water level in the area.
