Rampaging elephant subdued ending days of terror for villagers
The forest department team has brought relief to villagers by capturing an elephant that had been causing havoc in the village for months.
The incident took place near Ayyankolly town of Nilgiris district in Tamil Nadu, southern India, on December 27.
Visuals show the elephant being tied with ropes connected to a bulldozer and slowly moving, while officials guided the operation using flashlights in the dark.
According to reports, the wild tusker, nicknamed “Bullet” and identified as Cherambadi Tusker-16 (CT16), was tranquilized on Friday after causing damage to houses in Cherambadi and Pandalur. The State Forest Department captured the elephant near Ayyankolly and, with the assistance of a kumki elephant, loaded it onto a truck for relocation to a dense forest far from human habitation.
