Railway track washed away in northern India amid heavy rain

A railway track was washed away due to a strong flow of water following heavy rain in northern India’s Uttar Pradesh.

The incident occurred at the Sakriya Nala between Shahgarh station and Sandai Halt on the Pilibhit-Mailani Junction railway route on July 7.

Visuals showed the railway track hanging in the air after being washed away. A man walking on the suspended track.

According to reports, DRM Rekha Yadav of the Izzat Nagar division stated that train operations have been temporarily halted. She also mentioned that operations on the Pilibhit Tanakpur route have been stopped due to water levels on the Khatima bridge being above the danger mark. The affected track is located between railway pole numbers 241/2 and 241/3. The introduction of new trains has also been delayed, and the reconstruction of the bridge is expected to take a significant amount of time.
