Quick-thinking policeman saves schoolgirl from truck accident in southern India
In a remarkable display of quick action, a policeman in southern India’s Tamil Nadu saved a schoolgirl from an oncoming truck. Surveillance footage of the brave act has gone viral, drawing both praise and some critique from viewers online.
The incident took place at Kalangal Junction on Tiruchi Road, near Sulur in Coimbatore District on November 5.
Visuals showed Constable Ganesh had just crossed one side of the road and was waiting in the middle to cross to the other side. As he stood in the center, a young schoolgirl began to cross from the same side. Observing the imminent danger posed by an approaching truck, Constable Ganesh instinctively pulled the girl towards him, narrowly avoiding an accident.
According to reports, the Coimbatore District Superintendent of Police, K. Karthikeyan, commended Constable Ganesh’s prompt response, praising his actions for saving the young student. The video quickly circulated on social media, where viewers lauded Ganesh’s bravery and dedication. However, some users also pointed out that both the policeman and the girl had crossed the road in a seemingly hasty manner, suggesting that the situation could have been avoided with more caution. Others noted that the truck driver’s sudden braking also played a critical role in averting the collision.
Despite mixed reactions online, Constable Ganesh’s actions have underscored the importance of quick reflexes and alertness in potentially life-threatening situations.
