In eastern India’s West Bengal, a tragic incident has shocked the city as a young doctor from RG Kar Medical College and Hospital was found raped and murdered.
The incident took place in Kolkata city on August 27.
Visuals showed the intense scene as protesters were tortured with high-powered water cannons, drenching them in a powerful spray. In a bid to disperse the crowd, tear gas shells were then lobbed, releasing thick clouds of smoke that sent the demonstrators scrambling in panic, their eyes and throats burning.
The crime has ignited widespread outrage, leading to massive protests across the state. The protesters, led by students and medical professionals, demanded swift action and justice for the victim.

The situation escalated as demonstrators attempted to march to Nabanna, the state secretariat, but were met with a heavy police presence, resulting in clashes. The incident has brought significant criticism against the state government led by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, with opposition parties like the BJP calling for a CBI investigation. As tensions rise, the demand for justice for the young doctor continues to grow, putting pressure on the authorities.
