Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated India’s new parliament building in northern India’s Delhi.
This happened on May 28.
Visuals showed the newly-constructed Parliament building. A bird’s eye view showed the triangular structure in all its glory with the Ashok stambh on top. The interiors of the new building featured a grand hall which had the parliament seats and also a big Ashoka Chakra in the centre of the main wall.
The Rajya Sabha hall too had the same look. The parliament building occupies an area of 64,500 square metres. Modi, dressed in traditional attire, also was seen bowing to the ‘Adheenams’ or seers from southern India’s Tamil Nadu, seeking their blessings on this historic occasion for the country. He also installed the historic ‘Sengol’ in the Lok Sabha chamber.
A multi-faith prayer was also performed to mark this occasion.” It is not only a building. It is a reflection of the aspirations and dreams of 140 crore Indians. This is the temple of our democracy giving the message of India’s determination to the world,” Modi said.
