Police seize over 8,000 SIM cards, Nepali currency, one car and five mobile phones in northern India
The police have seized 8,774 SIM cards, Nepali currency, 1 car & four mobile phones during vehicle checking in northern India’s Bihar.
This happened in Gopalganj district of the state on April 5.
Visuals showed the recovered SIM cards kept on a table in front of the cops who recovered these items. The SIM cards belonging to various companies and Nepali currently worth 18,800 (USD 141.29) were recovered from the car at the Balthari check post. The cops also arrested three people from the checkpost and it came to be known that all of them were cyber criminals operating from Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal. Moreover, the car that they were travelling in had a West Bengal registration number on its number plate.
The police also found out that transactions worth lakhs of rupees were made using these mobile phones and the recovery of such a huge amount of SIM cards has led the security agencies to become alert. The cops are investigating this matter further and conducting raids to arrest other members of the gang involved in the cyber crime. Those arrested were identified as Mohammad Asmaul Shaikh, Mohammad Iqbal Hussain and Noor Alam.
