Police resort to baton charge after brawl erupts at fair in northern India
A scuffle between two youths at the Dronacharya Fair in northern India’s Uttar Pradesh led to a police baton charge, creating chaos among attendees.
The incident took place in Dankaur, a town within the Greater Noida area in the Gautam Buddh Nagar district on August 30.
Visuals showed in the middle of a crowded fair, two groups were caught in a heated fight, drawing the attention of onlookers. Chaos quickly spread as people scrambled in all directions. Police officers, struggling to restore order, resorted to baton charges, adding to the confusion and panic among the crowd.
On Friday night, a brawl broke out between two youths during the Dronacharya Fair in Dankaur, causing panic among the fairgoers. The youths, identified as Manish from Atta Gujran village and Ritik from Dankaur town, engaged in a heated altercation that quickly escalated into a physical fight involving punches and kicks.
As the situation intensified, a crowd gathered to watch the fight, leading to further disorder at the fair. Upon receiving the information, local police officers rushed to the scene and attempted to defuse the situation. However, when the youths refused to calm down, the officers resorted to using batons to disperse them.
The police action sparked further chaos, with many attendees fleeing the scene in panic. The incident was recorded by onlookers, and the video was soon shared widely on social media, drawing significant attention.
Police Station in-charge, Munendra Singh, later stated that the police had initially tried to mediate between the two parties, but the youths were determined to continue fighting. Consequently, the police had to take necessary action to maintain order. Singh also confirmed that a case has been registered against both individuals involved, and further legal action is being pursued.
