Pipeline burst in southern India floods crop fields with Godavari river water

A significant pipeline burst in southern India’s Andhra Pradesh.

The incident took place in Vikkisiraopeta in Polavaram mandal, Eluru district on July 5.

Visuals showed an air wall leakage, causing water to shoot up to 20 feet high. The burst destroyed a section of the pipeline, which channels water from the Pattiseema uplifts to the right canal.

According to reports, water from the Godavari River is flooding nearby crop fields, causing concern among local farmers. The Pattiseema project involves a delivery channel that transfers water from the Godavari River to the Polavaram right canal. Heavy motors pump the water through pipelines to this delivery channel, which begins two kilometers from the river.

Authorities are working to address the pipeline damage and manage the flooding to minimize the impact on agriculture in the region.
