Passengers play cricket in tunnel amid snowstorm chaos in Jammu and Kashmir

Passengers played cricket inside a tunnel in northern India’s Jammu and Kashmir due to a road closure caused by heavy snowfall.

The incident occurred in the Navyug Tunnel in the Qazigund area of Anantnag district, and the video went viral on December 28.

The visual shows a group of men playing cricket on the road inside the tunnel, while several vehicles, including cars and trucks, are parked in the second lane.

According to reports, the valley received substantial snowfall, which disrupted both flight and railway services and also led to the closure of the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway-44. Flight operations from Srinagar Airport were suspended due to the snow.

According to officials from the Traffic Department, clearance work was being delayed because of the heavy snow in the Navyug Tunnel. The official stated that personnel and machinery are on the job, advising commuters to avoid travel until the weather improves and the road is cleared. Railway officials confirmed that train services on the Banihal-Baramulla section were also suspended due to snow accumulation on the tracks. Efforts to clear the tracks are ongoing.
