Passenger detained for smuggling 15.04 kg of hydroponic weed at airport in northern India

In a notable incident at an airport in northern India’s Delhi, customs officials detained a passenger for attempting to smuggle 15.04 kg of hydroponic weed valued at USD 17,88,896 (₹15.04 crores).

The incident took place at Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi district on October 20.

Visuals showed customs officers conducting a thorough inspection of the passenger’s baggage. The officials opened the bag in the presence of the passenger, uncovering a substantial stash of a greenish-brown substance, later revealing numerous packets of weed.

According to reports, the operation unfolded when the passenger arrived from Bangkok en route to Paris. The passenger’s suspicious behavior during the customs screening prompted further investigation. The customs department reiterated its commitment to upholding security and preventing illegal activities at the airport, emphasizing the importance of vigilance in combating drug smuggling efforts.
