Passenger attacks bus conductor over monthly pass dispute in southern India
A bus conductor in southern India’s Karnataka was attacked by a passenger with a stone following an argument over a monthly pass.
The incident took place near the Tin Factory bus stop, which is located in the Mahadevapura area of Bengaluru on October 18.
Visuals showed a passenger, Hemanth, hit the conductor on the head with a stone while he was having his lunch in bus after an argument over producing a monthly pass.
According to reports, Hemanth had previously travelled on the same bus three days earlier, where he had an altercation with the conductors over the same issue. After the attack, the bus crew and other BMTC staff chased down Hemanth and handed him over to the Mahadevapura police, who arrested him. The injured conductor was taken to CV Raman Hospital for medical evaluation, but it was determined that he did not sustain any serious injuries.
The BMTC has lodged a formal complaint against Hemanth at the Mahadevapura police station.
