Panic erupts as five-storey building crumbles, residents flee in chaos

A section of a five-storey building collapsed at midnight, with debris falling onto a vehicle and causing damage.

The incident took place in the Dongri area of Mumbai City, Maharashtra on December 12.

Visuals show a crowd gathered, watching and anticipating the building’s collapse. As the structure crumbled into debris, panic spread among the residents, prompting screams and a rush to flee the area.

According to reports, rescue operations were promptly initiated at the site, and no casualties have been reported. Local leaders and residents also joined efforts to assist in the rescue activities.

Amin Patel, a Congress MLA, noted that the building, named Noor Villa, had visible cracks and was pending repairs. He stated, “The building had numerous cracks, and while funds were being arranged, the repairs could not be carried out in time. As a result, part of the building collapsed today. The BMC, police, and fire brigade are working together to clear the debris.”
