One-and-a-half-year old girl trapped in 500-feet borewell in western India, rescue operation underway

In western India’s Gujarat, a 1.5-year-old girl is trapped in a 500-feet borewell, prompting an urgent rescue operation.

The incident took place at Suraj pura Village in Amreli district on June 14.

Visuals showed in the depths of a deep borewell, a young girl had fallen, prompting frantic efforts from bystanders who were sending oxygen through pipes to help her breathe. Nearby, an ambulance stood ready, a beacon of hope amidst the tense rescue operation.

According to reports the 1.5-year-old girl named Aarohi has fallen into a 500-feet deep borewell. The child is currently trapped approximately 50 feet down the narrow 8-inch diameter shaft.

The Civil administration, in coordination with the Fire department and aided by Ambulance services (108), has swiftly initiated a rescue operation at the site. Oxygen is being administered into the borewell to ensure the child’s well-being as efforts intensify to safely extract her from the precarious situation.

A specialized team from 6 Battalion of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) was mobilized from RRC Gandhinagar to join the rescue efforts, underscoring the urgent and collaborative response to the unfolding emergency.

The situation remains critical, with rescue teams working tirelessly to bring young Aarohi safely back to the surface.
