Officials with locals rescue individuals stranded in river in northern India
In a dramatic rescue operation in northern India’s Uttarakhand, police, along with locals, saved two individuals stranded in a river.
The incident took place at Kosi river in Someshwara village of Almora district on September 3.
Visuals showed the individuals being pulled to safety by police officials and locals using ropes and safety techniques. The rescue operation was carefully executed, ensuring the individuals were safely brought to shore.
According to reports, the Someshwar police station received an emergency call that two persons had drowned in the Kosi river. Responding swiftly, Police Station Head Someshwar Kashmir Singh reached the location. One individual was found clinging to a river stone for safety, while the other was completely submerged in the river.
The police team successfully rescued both individuals. The drowned person was identified as Mahendra Ram (35), son of Dev Ram, a resident of Oakli village, Someshwar, while the other individual was identified as Amar Bahadur, son of Dal Bahadur, a resident of Chingra Gao Balika District, Surkhet, Nepal, currently residing in Dadmiyan, Someshwar. Both were immediately taken to the government hospital in Someshwar, where doctors unfortunately declared Mahendra Ram deceased.
