Officials rescue passengers after bus falls into deep gorge in northern India
Atleast seven people died and multiple others were left injured after a bus carrying passengers fell into a 200 metre-deep gorge in northern India’s Uttarakhand.
This incident happened between Magoli and Kaladhuni in Nainital on October 8.
Visuals showed the rescue operation in progress. Officials of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) used ropes to pull out the victims of the accident. The victims were then carried by a stretcher towards an ambulance. Flashlights were used in the rescue operation as this incident reportedly took place at 8pm. According to a report, seven people died in this accident which included one man, a child and five women.
The bus was carrying 33 people from Haryana’s Hisar to Nainital when this accident took place. The SDRF officials were informed and they rushed to the spot from Rudrapur, Nainital and Khairna after getting to know about this incident. The authorities were able to rescue 26 people who were taken to the hospital with injuries. The bodies of the deceased were handed over to the civil police by the authorities.
