Official saves passenger’s life at station in heroic act in northern India
A swift and heroic act by RPF constable Hori Prasad saved a passenger from a potentially fatal accident at a station in northern India’s Uttar Pradesh as he fell between the platform and the moving Farakka Express.
The incident took place at Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay Junction (DDU Station), formerly known as Mughalsarai Junction on November 14.
Visuals showed the passenger, attempting to board the moving train, losing balance and slipping. Half of his body was dangling between the platform and the train, while the other half was being dragged by the coach. Hori Prasad, known for his expertise in the sport of “Kho-Kho,” acted with lightning speed. Running alongside the train, he managed to pull the passenger to safety and helped him board the train securely.
The incident occurred at 4:05 PM when train number 15743, the Farakka Express, was departing from platform 6. The constable, along with other RPF personnel, was deployed to manage the post-Chhath Puja crowd and ensure the smooth boarding of passengers. Thanks to his alertness and quick reflexes, the passenger escaped unhurt, and the train continued its journey without delay. The RPF commended Prasad’s bravery, highlighting it as an example of their commitment to passenger safety.
