In a unique sight in northern India’s Uttar Pradesh, the SSP of Bareilly led his police team on horseback during a patrol ahead of upcoming festivals.
The incident took place in Bareilly district and the video went viral on October 10.
Visuals showed the Bareilly SSP, not in a vehicle nor walking, but riding a horse down the crowded roads. Other policemen followed suit, also on horseback, while a police vehicle moved ahead of them. The team appeared vigilant, ensuring safety measures were being enforced.
According to reports, the patrolling was part of the police administration’s heightened preparations to ensure a safe and secure environment for the festivals of Dussehra and Deepawali. On Wednesday evening, senior officers, including ADG Ramit Sharma, IG Dr. Rakesh Singh, and Commissioner Saumya Agarwal, joined in by patrolling key areas like Civil Lines, Navalti Chauraha, and District Hospital Road on foot. They interacted with shopkeepers, urging them to stay vigilant and cooperate with security efforts.
