A 20-year-old nursing student from norrther India’s Uttar Pradesh, succumbed to injuries after being allegedly run over by an car.
The incident took place at Palpur village, which falls under the jurisdiction of Chhibramau police station, in Kannauj district and the video went viral on November 16.
Visuals showed A fast-moving car sped down a narrow road, recklessly hitting a young girl walking along the path. The impact sent her tumbling to the ground as the vehicle crushed her without stopping. The car fled the scene at high speed, leaving behind a horrifying trail of chaos and witnesses in shock.
According to reports, the nursing student, identified as Rinki (20), lost her life after being hit by an SUV allegedly driven by Arun alias Brajesh. The victim had earlier rejected a marriage proposal from the accused, who had been harassing her for months.
Rinki’s father, Ramnaresh, had filed a complaint on September 8, accusing Arun of molesting and assaulting his daughter. Despite the allegations, no action was taken by the police. The lack of timely intervention allegedly emboldened the accused, leading to the fatal attack.
On the day of the incident, Rinki was critically injured in the hit-and-run case and was rushed to a hospital in Lucknow, where she succumbed to her injuries three days later. Her family also provided CCTV footage showing the SUV hitting her.
The accused had a history of violent behavior, including an earlier assault on Rinki’s brother, which was resolved through a settlement. Local reports indicate that Arun, who had been residing in his maternal grandparents’ house in the same village as the victim, had been pressuring Rinki for marriage and threatening her with dire consequences.
Following public outrage, three police officials, including the station in-charge, were suspended for negligence. The police have now initiated an investigation into the matter, and the accused remains at large.
