Moving car catches fire on road in northern India after breaks failed

A car caught fire while driving in northern India’s Rajasthan, leading to a chaotic situation as the vehicle’s brakes failed, causing it to collide with a bike before coming to a stop. No casualties were reported in the incident.

The incident took place at Ajmer road in Jaipur on October 12.

Visuals showed on a busy road, where other cars and people were present, a burning car without a driver moved uncontrollably ahead. Panic had already spread on the road as people were running frantically, trying to steer their vehicles out of the way. The sight of the flaming car only heightened the chaos, with onlookers fleeing in all directions. The car, engulfed in flames, sped forward with no control, its path erratic, until it finally crashed into a divider and came to a stop.

According to reports, the driver, Jitendra Jangid, a resident of Mansarovar, when smoke started emerging from the car’s AC system shortly after descending from an elevated road.

Realizing that the car’s bonnet was on fire, Jitendra jumped out, saving his life. However, the fire continued to intensify.

As the car’s handbrake and main brake failed, the vehicle began rolling downhill and struck a parked bike before hitting a divider, where it finally came to a halt. Despite efforts by bystanders to extinguish the fire, the flames grew uncontrollable.

The incident caused panic on the road, leading to a large crowd gathering and creating a significant traffic jam. Jaipur Police and fire brigade were immediately alerted. Firefighters, led by Officer Dinesh Kumar, arrived promptly and managed to douse the flames after a long struggle. Unfortunately, the car was completely destroyed by the time the fire was extinguished. Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident.
