Monkey menace in northern India: woman narrowly escapes abduction attempt

In northern India’s Uttar Pradesh, the increasing menace of monkeys has reached alarming levels, with a recent incident involving an elderly woman who narrowly escaped an attempted abduction by these aggressive animals.

The incident took place at ATS Happy Trails Society, Greater Noida West on August 3.

Visuals showed a woman was busy working in her kitchen when a monkey suddenly entered through the balcony. The monkey wandered around the kitchen, inspecting and touching various items. The woman, initially unaware of the monkey’s presence due to her engrossment in her tasks, eventually noticed it. Startled and frightened, she screamed loudly and quickly retreated into another room. The monkey remained in the kitchen for a short while, exploring the area and disturbing the utensils, before eventually leaving through the same balcony.

The ATS Happy Trails Society in Greater Noida West is grappling with a severe monkey problem. In a distressing incident, a group of monkeys attacked an elderly woman, attempting to drag her away. Thankfully, the woman managed to escape, but the event has intensified concerns about the rising monkey population in the area.

Residents have reported frequent attacks by monkeys on children, elderly individuals, passersby, and women. The increasing number of monkeys has led to a rise in home invasions, where these animals enter houses and steal belongings. Additionally, monkeys have been targeting school-going children and pedestrians.

To mitigate the threat, residents have started installing nets in front of their homes. Despite these measures, the situation remains tense, with many people feeling increasingly unsafe. Videos of the incidents have gone viral, further highlighting the growing issue and the public’s distress.
