Monitor lizard spotted in western India’s housing society after heavy rainfall
A video capturing a huge monitor lizard leisurely crawling through a residential complex in western India’s Maharashtra raised concerns for both the reptile’s safety and the residents’ well-being.
The incident took place at Goregaon East in Mumbai on September 26.
Visuals showed a resident having managed to film the monitor lizard taking a stroll in their building. It was recorded from a grilled window, ensuring the safety of the person capturing the incident on camera. The monitor lizard slowly crawls on the paver blocks at the housing society and passes below his flat while pulling out its tongue repeatedly.
This incident not only highlights the unusual behavior of wildlife during extreme weather but also raises questions about the habitat displacement of animals due to urban flooding.
