Miscreants attack toll plaza personnels in central India
Several miscreants attacked toll plaza personnels in central India’s Madhya Pradesh.

The incident took place at the Dagrai toll plaza on National Highway on April 2.

Visuals showed masked individuals on four motorcycles approach the toll booths. Subsequently, they begin kicking at the toll counter doors, with some successfully gaining entry into the booths. The attackers are observed causing damage to computers, assaulting the toll plaza personnel, and attempting to forcibly remove them.

According to reports, when the assailants began firing shots into the air, the staff fled into the nearby field to protect themselves. While fleeing, Parihar and Kandele accidentally fell into an uncovered well situated behind the office and tragically drowned.

The toll plaza contract between Jhansi and Gwalior was transferred to a new contractor on April 1. It’s reported that some locals had an arrangement with the previous contractor, allowing their vehicles to pass through the toll booth without payment. However, the new contractor refused to continue this practice, leading to a dispute. Reports suggest that Tuesday night’s attack was planned to intimidate the new contractor.

An official stated that a case has been filed against unidentified individuals, and an investigation is underway.

Toll tax is a fee charged to vehicle owners for using expressways, tunnels, bridges, etc. The collected amount is utilized for repair and maintenance purposes, with charges varying based on the vehicle’s size.
