Massive pipeline burst floods fields in central India, farmers suffer losses

In central India’s Madhya Pradesh, a major pipeline burst from the Indira Sagar Project caused severe flooding in nearby agricultural fields.

The incident occurred near the Jamla Pump House in Lohari, Khargone on June 25.

Visuals showed the water shooting up to 100 feet high and inundating crops likening it to a large fountain due to the force of the water.

According to reports, the sudden deluge resulted in significant damage to recently sown fields, potentially leading to the loss of crops worth lakhs of rupees. Authorities promptly shut down the Narmada project’s pump to contain the damage.

The incident has left local farmers distressed as they face potential financial losses from the destroyed crops. The exact cause of the pipeline burst is yet to be determined, and further investigations are ongoing.
