Massive landslide forms temporary pond after heavy rain in northern India
A terrible landslide occurred in northern India’s Uttarakhand, resulting in a temporary pond formed on the River due to a landslide after heavy rain.
 
The incident took place in Bhimbali of Kedarnath, Rudraprayag district on August 11. 
Visuals showed the entire mountain gets submerged in the river. The path of the river got blocked due to the debris of the mountain. A pond was formed on the upper side of the Mandakini River.

According to the reports, District Disaster Management Officer Nandan Singh Rajwar said that in the afternoon, a landslide occurred from the hill across the river in front of Bhimbali helipad. Due to this, a pond of water has formed in the Mandakini River, which is now slowly receding. He said that there was no loss of life or property in this incident. He said that an alert had been issued from Gaurikund to Rudraprayag. He appealed to the people living on the river bank that no one should go towards the river. Everyone has been alerted to stay away from the river banks.
