Massive landslide blocks road disrupts commutes in northern India

In a recent incident in northern India’s Himachal Pradesh, a road was blocked amidst a massive landslide due to torrential rainfall.
The incident occurred near Ghumma Rohana of Shimla district on July 6.
Visuals showed that the landslide occurred due to the cracking of the mountain, leading to substantial debris falling onto the highway.
According to officials, the highway closure has resulted in long vehicle queues on both sides. Commuters and travelers are experiencing significant disruptions and delays due to the blockage. Reportedly local authorities are working to clear the debris and reopen the highway, but this process is expected to take several hours. In the meantime, people are advised to avoid the area and seek alternative routes.
According to reports, the Sirmaur district administration has advised travelers to stay patient and follow the instructions of traffic personnel on the scene. Efforts are underway to clear the highway and make it safe for travel as soon as possible.
