Massive landslide amidst torrential rains causes road blockage in northern India’s Uttarakhand
In a recent incident in northern India’s Uttarakhand, a massive landslide had taken place due to heavy rainfall in the region.
The incident took place in Dharchula Tawaghat road in Pithoragarh on July 3.

Visuals showed a spine-chilling scene as a landslide enveloped the area in dust, sending debris falling into a nearby river. Stranded vehicles stretched in a long line, leading to severe traffic congestion, while concerned locals watched in shock and distress from a safe distance.
Speaking to Newslions, Circle officer M.R. Parvez Ali, CO Pithoragarh, stated that the landslide occurred due to heavy rains persisting in the region since yesterday. He assured that the Border Road Organization, Police, and State Disaster Response Fund are actively engaged in road clearance efforts. Fortunately, no casualties have been reported. He also highlighted that the area has experienced multiple landslides, including more than 10 today alone, due to the ongoing rainfall.
