Massive fire in city guts two shops, injures one in southern India

A massive fire broke out in southern India’s Kerala, causing significant damage and leaving one person injured.

The incident took place in Kozhikode city on July 5.

Visuals showed first the shop was burning and then suddenly there was a huge blast with the explosion sound echoing in the area and fumes engulfing the entire neighbourhood.

The blaze completely gutted two shops, resulting in substantial property loss and disruption in the area.

The fire, which started around noon, rapidly spread through the shops, creating panic among locals and shop owners. Emergency services, including firefighters and police, were promptly dispatched to the scene to control the blaze and ensure public safety.

The injured individual, whose identity has not been disclosed, was quickly taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. The extent of their injuries is currently unknown. Eyewitnesses reported seeing thick black smoke billowing from the burning shops, and the intense heat made firefighting efforts challenging.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire and assessing the damage. Initial reports suggest that the blaze may have been triggered by an electrical short circuit, but further investigations are needed to confirm this.
