Massive fire engulfs three-storey hardware store in southern India

A devastating fire broke out in a three-storey hardware store in southern India’s Andhra Pradesh, causing significant damage to the building and its contents. The blaze, suspected to be caused by welding sparks, was brought under control by local fire brigades.

 

The incident took place at a three-storey hardware store owned by Dhachepalli Nanaji, Ravikamatham village, Chodavaram Constituency, Visakhapatnam District on September 8.

Visuals showed after a massive fire broke out in the building, fire tenders arrived at the scene and began efforts to extinguish the flames. A crowd of local residents and onlookers quickly gathered around the area, creating a scene of chaos and commotion. There was a sense of urgency and concern in the air as people watched the intense firefighting operation unfold. The team of firefighters, in a strategic move, climbed onto the roof of a nearby building to combat the blaze from above, directing powerful jets of water towards the raging flames. The atmosphere was tense as everyone anxiously awaited the outcome of the firefighting efforts.

The incident occurred while welding work was underway on the first floor, leading locals to believe that sparks from the welding may have ignited the fire. During the fire, there was a moment of concern as one person was trapped inside the building. However, local residents acted swiftly to rescue him by bringing him down safely from behind the billet.

 

The fire destroyed heavy plastic pipes and other items, with the flames eventually reaching the second floor. Firefighters from Chodavaram arrived to bring the situation under control. Local reports suggest that the damage to the property is extensive.
