Massive fire engulfs police station in northern India, destroys over 100 Vehicles
A devastating inferno erupted at a police station in northern India’s Uttar Pradesh, consuming the office and more than a hundred vehicles, with firefighters struggling for hours to contain the blaze.
The incident took place at the Kasna police station in Greater Noida on April 9.
Visuals showed the police station was engulfed in a fierce blaze, billowing thick smoke into the air, while chaos reigned outside with a flurry of activity.
According to reports the fierce fire broke out in the Kasna police station, engulfing the office of the station in flames along with more than 100 vehicles. Near the Kasna police station in Greater Noida, a transformer suddenly exploded with a loud bang, causing a fire to erupt. Approximately 80 motorcycles and other four-wheeled vehicles were engulfed in flames.
After a struggle of about two and a half hours, four fire tenders managed to control the fire. In the catastrophic fire incident at Kasna police station on Tuesday, more than 100 vehicles, including the office of the station in charge, were reduced to ashes. This fire incident occurred due to the explosion of a transformer located near the police station. The flames reached the office of the station in charge as the transformer was just eight meters away from the police station premises. The police station building is constructed on land belonging to the forest department, so the entire building is made of insulated fiber panel material. The flames quickly engulfed this material.
Upon seeing the fire, about 50 police personnel present at the station managed to safely retrieve all the records from the office of the station in charge. Four complainants were also present and were safely evacuated. The furniture kept in the station in charge’s office was burnt. The fire rapidly consumed the fiber panels entirely. Additionally, the two-wheelers seized or confiscated and brought to the station were also caught in the fire. Upon receiving the information, four fire brigade vehicles reached the scene. After about two and a half hours of efforts, the fire was brought under control.
Station in-charge Vidhyut Goyal stated that if the documents related to cases were burnt in the fire, the investigation could have been affected. The police personnel managed to evacuate them on time. The fire broke out due to the explosion of a transformer in Kasna police station. It was completely brought under control within two and a half hours. No casualties were reported due to the fire. The assessment of the damage caused by the fire is currently underway.
