Massive fire engulfs grocery shop in northern India, no casualties reported
In a dramatic incident in northern India’s Jammu and Kashmir, a massive fire broke out at a grocery shop, leading to the swift evacuation of nearby residents.
The incident took place in the Bramri area of Kupwara district on October 22.
Visuals showed the grocery store engulfed in furious flames during the dark hours of the night, creating a life-threatening and horrific scene. Smoke billowed as flames illuminated the area, drawing the attention of locals and authorities alike.
According to reports from the Indian Army, the fire erupted around 10:30 pm and rapidly spread to adjacent houses. The teams from Hamdard-e-Kupwara (41 RR) quickly responded to the Sarpanch’s alert and arrived with their own resources, successfully evacuating all residents along with locals.
Firefighting efforts were coordinated by the Kupwara Fire Station and Payarpora Sub Station, with two fire engines arriving from Payarpora and two more from Kupwara and Trehgam around 12:15 am, as noted by the Army.
The combined efforts of the Kupwara Fire Brigade, locals, and the Indian Army brought the fire under control and completely doused it by 2:30 am. The incident caused extensive damage to the personal property of four houses, one shop, and one animal shelter, according to a statement from the Indian Army.
