Massive fire engulfs 200 two-wheelers at railway station
A massive fire broke out in the vehicle parking area of a railway station, engulfing nearly 200 two-wheelers and causing significant damage.
The incident took place at Varanasi’s Cantt railway station in Northern India’s Uttar Pradesh on November 30.
Visual shows the fire that started around midnight, with towering flames engulfing the parking lot and sending thick plumes of smoke into the sky. Firefighters and police personnel are seen working relentlessly to bring the blaze under control.
According to reports, approximately 12 fire engines were deployed to the scene, supported by teams from the Government Railway Police (GRP), Railway Protection Force (RPF), and local police. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported.
Preliminary investigations suggest a short circuit as the likely cause of the fire. Kunwar Bahadur Singh, Circle Officer of the GRP, confirmed, “There were some cycles that were also damaged. The fire was triggered by a short circuit, and we are continuing our investigation.”
Many of the gutted vehicles reportedly belonged to railway employees. One railway worker shared his narrow escape, recalling how he moved his bike to safety just before the flames spread. He mentioned a short circuit had occurred earlier in the evening but had been repaired at the time.
