Massive fire breaks out at landfill in northern India
A massive fire broke out at the Bandhwari landfill in northern India’s Haryana.
This incident happened on the Gurugram-Faridabad border on April 23.
Visuals showed the devastating impact of the inferno as it ravaged the landfill site. The towering heap of garbage, previously discarded without heed, became a tinderbox for the flames. Within moments, the fire seized control, its hungry tendrils spreading rapidly throughout the entire expanse of the landfill. Thick plumes of smoke billowed into the sky, shrouding the vicinity in an opaque haze, obscuring visibility and choking the air with acrid fumes.
Promptly informed of the emergency, a fleet of at least 10 fire tenders raced to the scene, their sirens wailing urgently as they converged on the conflagration. Approximately 35 firefighters mobilized to combat the blaze, working tirelessly to contain its ferocity and prevent further destruction. Remarkably, this marked the fourth occasion on which the landfill had succumbed to such fiery turmoil, underscoring the urgent need for more robust preventive measures and waste management strategies.
