Massive fire at mall in eastern India; multiple people feared tapped, 10 fire tenders deployed

A devastating fire engulfed in a shopping mall in eastern India’s West Bengal prompting an urgent response from the city’s fire department.

The incident took place at Acropolis Mall in Kolkata on June 14.

Visuals showed on the upper floors of the mall, a terrifying inferno raged, casting ominous black smoke. People dashed from one place to another, desperate to escape and save their lives. The air was thick with panic as people hurriedly navigated through the chaotic scene.

The blaze, whose origin remains under investigation according to fire department officials, erupted during operating hours at Acropolis Mall, which also houses several offices. Disturbing videos circulated online depicted frantic scenes as people hurriedly evacuated the premises following the outbreak of fire.

Efforts to contain and extinguish the flames were intensified as fire crews maneuvered through the sprawling complex. Concurrently, officials undertook the challenging task of evacuating occupants from the offices situated within the mall’s premises.
