Massive bulldozer drive clears illegal encroachment in northern India

A major bulldozer drive in northern India’s Uttar Pradesh has come to an end with the demolition of Waqf mosque and madrasa.

The demolition of the mosque took place in Akbarnagar of Lucknow on June 18.

Visuals showed that late at night, a bulldozer crashed into the Waqf mosque, sending dust clouds into the air. The building trembled and collapsed brick by brick and got reduced into mere dust.

Reports revealed that over 1,169 illegal houses, while 101 commercial buildings which were constructed illegally have been raised in this massive bulldozer drive. The bulldozer drive reportedly was for a tenure of 8 days and the demolition was done under high security.

According to reports, the Uttar Pradesh government continued its efforts to revive the Kukrail River and clear the Akbarnagar area in Lucknow of land mafia and intruders.

According to officials, the state government took the initiative to revive the locality and decided to turn it into a hub of eco-tourism by clearing the entire area of illegal encroachments ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.
