An incident in southern India’s Andhra Pradesh, has left a man with minor burns after he fell into a fire pit.

The incident took place in Anantapur district on July 17.

Visuals showed Peeri, a local resident, accidentally falling into the fire pit while carrying the idol of their local God. A young man quickly responded by picking him up, but not without suffering minor burns himself. The prompt action of the rescuer prevented more serious injuries.

According to reports, the event occurred at the first savidi in the Narpala mandal center.

Local authorities are investigating the circumstances that led to this unfortunate accident and are advising caution around open flames in community gatherings.
