Man strikes stray dog with rod in western India, flees scene leaving canine in agony

The incident took place in Evershine Society in Sector 6 of Vasai Virar area of Pune on May 28.
Visuals showed in a society, a man pulled a stick from his car trunk and cruelly hit a stray dog nearby. The dog whimpered in pain as the man swiftly fled on his scooter. Other dogs gathered around, hearing the distressed cries of their fellow canine.
Eyewitnesses in the vicinity recounted the distressing scene, describing how the assailant, without provocation, pulled out a rod from the trunk of his car and savagely attacked the unsuspecting dog. The helpless animal, overwhelmed by agony, cried out in anguish, prompting other nearby strays to gather around, adding to the harrowing sight.
Local animal welfare organizations have condemned the barbaric act, calling for swift action to apprehend the culprit and ensure justice for the innocent animal.
